Wärtsilä gas power plants
Wärtsilä gas power plants are designed for optimal production performance in a broad variety of peaking, intermediate and baseload applications. The power plants are based on engine units operating on gaseous fuels.
Whether you need baseload, intermediate, peaking or standby power generation, we provide it. Wärtsilä gas engine power plants are typically based on modular 4–19 MW gas engine units. Read more »
Flexicycle™ power plants
In typical power systems, the base load generation capacity consists of large centralised coal and/or nuclear power plants alongside combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), with long ramp-up and ramp-down times. The intermediate load is traditionally often handled by combined cycle gas turbines. Reserve and peaking capacity are often based on less efficient smaller generating units which are expensive to operate.
The new Flexicycle™ solution combines the advantages of a flexible simple cycle plant with the superb efficiency of a combined cycle plant, in a unique way. The Flexicycle™ power plants can be optimised for different outputs in the 100 to 500 MW range. Read more »
Wärtsilä dual-fuel power plants
Wärtsilä dual-fuel power plants are based on engines that are able to run on gaseous fuels, light fuel oil, heavy fuel oil or a number of other liquid fuels, offering the ultimate in fuel flexibility.
The ability for power plant operators to switch to the most economical fuel is a capability of great value as fuel prices fluctuate. In addition the fuel can be switched whilst the engine is operating, for example if the gas supply is interrupted. This operational flexibility is a real advantage with the dual-fuel system. Wärtsilä oil power plants
Wärtsilä oil power plants stand for high efficiency power solutions from 1 to 500 MW. Proven long-term reliability makes these plants suitable for stationary and floating, baseload and standby applications. Worldwide deliveries of liquid-fuelled power plants exceed 36 GW.
The modular design of our oil power plants enables fast-track delivery anywhere in the world. As an example a 100 MW power plant can be in commercial operation in as little as nine months from order placement. Prefabricated, functionally pretested modules guarantee consistent quality and performance. Site installation is simple and fast, a matter of assembling and interconnecting modules. Read more »
Wärtsilä liquid biofuel power plants
Electricity provided for the grid should be stable. Many green energy solutions – like solar and wind power – depend on weather conditions. Wärtsilä liquid biofuel power plants rely on dependable, renewable fuel resources and offer high overall plant performance at all times.
Liquid biofuels can be produced from practically any oil-rich crop like oil palm, soy, rapeseed, sunflower and jatropha, grown in many regions all around the world. Liquid biofuels can also be of non vegetable origin, for example oils or fats from fish, poultry and rendering processes, which are by-products of the food industry and would otherwise be considered waste. Combined heat & power and combined cycle plants
Wärtsilä’s combined heat and power (CHP) plants incorporate both power and heat generation systems. The system for heat generation in parallel with electricity production, producing steam, hot water or chilled water, is optimally designed for the customer’s needs and requirements. The total plant efficiency can rise to even above 90%. These CHP plants can run on various fuels while maintaining low emissions and high efficiency.
The heat recovery systems can be defined as post engine “hang-on” types, and do not directly influence either engine performance or running. The engine will give the same high electrical efficiencies and output, regardless of the rate of heat production. CHP plants consume significantly less fuel than separate power and heat generation. Floating power plants - Wärtsilä power barge
A barge-mounted power plant solution has the excellent advantage of location flexibility, and is, therefore, an ideal solution for producing power on an interim basis.
Floating power plants are constructed cost effectively and rapidly in a well controlled industrial setting. Floating plants can be moved from one location to another when needed, and connected to the grid to alleviate local shortages. Read more »
